The walk terminated at Jai Gurudev Ashram, Mathura. Baba Jai Gurudev hailed from Etawah, but his 'karmabhoomi' was Mathura till his death in 2012. The centenarian Baba preached a simple philosophy and his Ashram runs a school, dispensary, goshala etc. On the other side of the highway, the magnificent temple the Baba built in memory of his Guru Sri Ghurelal Sharmaji is situated. The padayatris went around the Ashram and goshala which houses more than 2000 cattle. The lunch served was sattvik and delicious. The Yamuna Arati at Keshi Ghat was the program for the evening. In probably the most intimate of Aratis so far, the priests involved the yatris a great deal in the process of the elaborate Arati. The Yamuna Arati Sansthan honored the yatris with 'tikas' and colourful sashes. The head priest and Sri M briefly addressed the gathering. Yatris could not but observe the stench emanating from the river. It was far from full and flooded with effluents. The Yamuna Arati Sansthan is working hard to stem the rot and ensure that this holy river is not choked. To the delight of the regulars, many Satsangis and temporary yatris have landed up in Vrindavan, swelling the ranks and adding to the gaiety of the walk.
