After the official anniversary function on the 12th, padayatris had their own private celebration, the same evening by cutting two 'blue & white cakes' (the colours of the Walk of Hope) with ice cream on the side and a karaoke bash. Many tried to recount what exactly they were doing on Day 1 of the yatra, the first few people they met after joining the yatra, and how much or how little they had changed in the last year! They also used this opportunity to thank the organizers of the yatra who have worked tirelessly to enable them to participate in a Walk of this stature.
Today was a relatively uneventful day after the tumultuous yet happy 'anniversary day' the previous day. It was a much needed break, of course, to recoup from the exertions of the Anniversary Walk and function in Kanpur.
After the walk, the padayatris moved to Orient Resorts, located at the outskirts of Kanpur, the place of stay for the next few days.
In the evening, Sri M joined the Yatris in celebrating the Punjabi festival of Lohri. Lohri celebrates the end of the harvest season and is at the end of peak winter. All stood around the bonfire, then went around offering sweets, peanuts, etc and chanting 'Hoi'. Yatris had the pleasure of celebrating the birthday of two of those assembled. The food served at the resort featured delectable Punjabi dishes provided by the host.
