Walk of Hope covered 10 kilometres from Sanchi Stupa to Naktara today. After a halt of 6 days, the padyaatris were glad to be back on the road. In stark contrast to the journey in the last two weeks, the walk today was uneventful and silent.

The padyaatris moved into a reserve forest area and the next few days will hence be quite a delight though their living conditions are going to be very basic. The city walks saw a lot of participation and were quite eventful. The coming days of relative quietness, being close to nature, are expected to rejuvenate them after the busy, active days in the city. The morning started with monks of the Maha Bodhi Society taking them on a tour of the Sanchi Stupa. The Sanchi Stupa is located in the Raisen district of Madhya Pradesh and is one of the most well known Buddhist Viharas. The famous Stupa was originally constructed in the regime of Ashoka, the Emperor and is said to be built under the direct supervision of his wife, Devi, over the relics of The Buddha. The walkers, with Sri M leading from the front, walked quietly, passing through small villages and empty roads.
