The route passed through forest reserve areas with no development - and what a refreshing sight it was! There is tranquility in the air that is interrupted only by the sound of vehicles passing on the road. The chirrups of insects are ever present, including daytime. The day does not see much sun but there is a soft, ethereal light present well into the evening. Hilltops and clouds merge into each other, there seems to be no distinction between land and sky. When the padayatris are on hilltops, they see only different shades of green as far as the eye can see; miles and miles of hills covered in trees, shrouded in mist. As the walkers go along, they do come across people. There are, in fact, many homes along the road. The road they are walking on seems to be the only road in these areas, there are of course narrower roads that lead down or up to a hamlet now and then, but this is the only road that has some traffic on it. People here are mostly farmers and they grow generally rice; the farms are lush, each plot is forty or fifty square feet with boundaries of stones, dug up on the side of a hill, and fed by running water fromthe hill - each plot looking different from the other! The walkers crossed the border and reached Peint at around 10.30 am where a short welcome ceremony was organised. Sri M was welcomed in a traditional Gujarati fashion and the coordinators of Maharashtra ceremonially handed over their charge to the coordinators of Gujarat. The padayatris too were welcomed in style;each one greeted with a tilak and a garland. A raincoat and a sweet dish accompanied the welcome gesture. They reached Sutrapada a little while later and halted forthe day. A satsangi’sfactory not far away was their resting place and lunch was organized soon. In the evening, there was no Satsang scheduled but there was an informal gathering with the padayatris singing bhajans. Sri M also sang a few. He later interacted with the Gujarat group of coordinators. The yatris retired soon after dinner.
